Odd email from me?

It seems that a number of AOL users have been receiving email apparently from PayPal.com, requesting PayPal login/account details and the like, listing bensaunders.com as the 'from address'.

Rest assured, I'm not PayPal (or Nigerian, for that matter), nor do I have $20 million that I need to launder through your bank account (more's the pity).

In fact, the email didn't come from me at all - it's a form of spam known as spoofing, and I don't think there's anything that can be done about it.

Update - I've been having a flick through the files the spammers uploaded and I've deduced that the culprit is a student from the Universidad Cat??lica Boliviana - http://166.114.106.7/

    Muy interesante.

    Hi Nancy,

Just delete the email and carry on as normal :)

Also, it's a good idea not to post your email address on web pages - that's one of the ways the spammers get hold of them in the first place (I've removed it from your comment).

It happens to the best of us. And when they do hack the server unfortunately all customers on the server are at risk at that point. Not much we can do in those cases to prevent. All we can do is what you are currently doing. Post what happen and inform the public that it was a hack. Some people have too much time on their hands. If they used that talent for other things then we would make larger achievements in all areas.
